Coppersmith Brockelman’s Melissa Soliz shared expertise in laws and regulations related to substance abuse in a presentation at Arizona State University’s College of Nursing and Health Innovation.

Melissa broke down the opioid epidemic at a national and local scale, explaining how laws and regulations for licensing, prescribing, and patient privacy combat the epidemic. She noted the steps that Arizona has taken in response to the epidemic, including the Opioid Epidemic Act of 2018.

Melissa’s practice focuses on HIPAA and 42 C.F.R. Part 2 compliance, data breaches and OCR investigations, electronic health records and information exchanges, data sharing for research and clinical integration, and clinical research compliance and contracting.
