At the American Health Law Association conference on advising Academic Medical Centers, Physicians, and Hospitals, Partner Kristen Rosati shed light on the critical role governance plays in the development, procurement, and implementation of responsible artificial intelligence practices in health care. In the session titled “Health AI: Governance of Quickly Evolving Technology,” Kristen joined Hillary Kalay, principal counsel for the University of California.

During the discussion, Kristen outlined the legal issues involved in developing, procuring, and implementing AI in health care organizations. She covered what’s ahead for AI in the Trump Administration, existing federal laws affecting AI, and the quickly evolving state regulatory landscape. The session emphasized the importance of having a good governance structure in place to address compliance and mitigate risk.

A sought-after national speaker on the use of AI in health care, Kristen served as past President (2013-2014) and Fellow of the American Health Law Association (AHLA), the nation’s largest health care legal organization. She served as a member of the Program Planning Committee for AHLA Artificial Intelligence Convener Session and moderated a panel on Health AI Governance at the AHLA “Complexities of AI In Health Care” in Chicago. Kristen has received numerous professional recognitions, including a recognition by Super Lawyers as one of the top 25 women attorneys in Arizona.
