The Arizona State Law Journal honored Austin Yost with the 2025 John D. Lancy Distinguished Alumni Award. The award is presented to ASLJ alumni who have demonstrated a standard of selfless integrity, humility, and charity in Arizona’s legal community.

A 2017 graduate of ASU’s Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law, Austin has exhibited a passion for political law and criminal justice issues throughout his legal career. In the 2024 election cycle, Austin represented Arizona for Abortion Access, the committee that sponsored Proposition 139, which established a fundamental right to abortion in the Arizona Constitution.

In the criminal justice space, Austin has actively sought opportunities to donate his time and expertise through pro bono work, allowing him to advocate for the rights of individuals within the criminal justice system. Austin firmly believes those within the prison system deserve a voice, as they often lack representation and resources. His tireless efforts to address systemic problems in Arizona’s criminal justice system highlight his unwavering commitment to effecting change.
